If you want to make an 18 year old compliant, threatening him is probably the worst way to go about it. If anything, threats will have the opposite effect than that intended; making a normally obedient son a rebellious one. In all honesty, kind words and encouragement is the best way to make me do what you want. Believe me, I would love to be able to go to bed before 11 and get all my homework done, do laundry, work on scholarship and job applications, and type the script for my eagle scout ceremony. But, doing all of that in the time I have after school is quite frankly, as realistic as hell freezing over, pigs flying, the blind seeing, the dumb speaking, the deaf hearing, etc.

So, mixed feelings about this year’s Spring Break… On one hand, my allergies usually make me want to rip my sinuses out this time of year, but this time, thanks to the fact that I finally saw an allergist over the summer, I am quite happy in that department. On the other hand, Spring Break itself sucks. I will have spent all but three days of it either traveling or at grandma’s in Pennsylvania. It’d be alright if I got to do fun stuff but I’m babysitting the siblings (six of them) while mom and dad have been off house hunting in maryland. So, basically I’m mad because I get to spend no time with my girlfriend and I’ve wasted it babysitting :(
